സിഡ്നി: ബ്രിട്ടനില് 2007ല് നടന്ന സ്ഫോടനശ്രമവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് ആസ്ത്രേലിയയില് അറസ്റ്റിലായ ഇന്ത്യന് ഡോക്ടര് മുഹമ്മദ് ഹനീഫിന് (31) ആസ്ത്രേലിയന് സര്ക്കാര് 'വന്തുക നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നല്കും. ഹനീഫും അഭിഭാഷകരും ആസ്ത്രേലിയയിലെത്തി നടത്തിയ ചര്ച്ചയിലാണ് ഈ തീരുമാനമുണ്ടായത്.
സ്ഫോടനത്തിനു ശ്രമിച്ചയാളുമായി ബന്ധമുണ്ടെന്ന് ആരോപിച്ച പിടികൂടിയ ഹനീഫിനെ 12 ദിവസം കസ്റ്റഡിയില് സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നു. കേസെടുത്തെങ്കിലും പിന്നീടു സംഭവത്തില് പങ്കാളിയല്ലെന്നു കണ്ടെത്തി വെറുതെവിട്ടു. സംഭവം തന്റെ ജീവിതത്തെ ഏറെ ബാധിച്ചുവെന്ന് കാണിച്ചാണ് മുഹമ്മദ് ഹനീഫ് നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നല്കണമെന്ന ആവശ്യമുന്നയിച്ചത്.
Indian doctor Dr Mohammed Haneef who has been wrongfully accused of being involved in a bomb scare in the UK, way back in 2007 has been declared innocent. He was detained for 25 days and in confinement for 11 days with the immigration department. His mobile phone SIM was linked to foiled terrorism plots in London and Glasgow.
