അഗര്ത്തല: ഭര്ത്താവിനെ നീണ്ട 14 വര്ഷം പീഡിപ്പിച്ച ഭാര്യയ്ക്ക് ഒരു വര്ഷം തടവ്. നീണ്ട പതിനാലു വര്ഷമായി ഭാര്യ തന്നെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുകയാണെന്നാരോപിച്ച് ഭര്ത്താവ് നല്കിയ പരാതിയിന്മേലാണ് കോടതിയുടെ ഉത്തരവ്.
ത്രിപുരയിലെ പ്രദേശിക കോടതിയാണ് വിധി പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചത്. എന്നാല് പ്രൊബേഷന് ഓഫ് ഒഫന്റേഴ്സ് ആക്ടു പ്രകാരം വനിതയ്ക്ക് ജയിലിനു പുറത്തു കഴിയാമെന്ന് ജഡ്ജി ശര്മിസ്ഥ മുഖര്ജി അറിയിച്ചു. ഇവര്ക്ക് ചെറിയ കുട്ടിയുണ്ടെന്ന കാര്യം പരിഗണിച്ചാണ് കോടതിയുടെ ഈ തീരുമാനം.
2009 ആഗസ്തിലാണ് ഭര്ത്താവ് ഇവര്ക്കെതിരെ പരാതി നല്കിയത്. കേസില് വാദം കേട്ട ശേഷം വിധി പറയുന്നത് കോടതി ആഗസ്ത് 8 ലേയ്ക്ക് മാറ്റി വയ്ക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
A local court in Tripura on Monday sentenced a woman to one-year imprisonment for torturing her husband for 14 long years, police said.However, judge Sarmistha Mukherjee, under the Probation of Offenders Act, 1958, allowed the woman to stay outside the jail as she has a minor daughter and is a government employee.
